About Us

The purpose of the Straight And Gay Alliance is to provide a safe space for members of the LGBTQ community and their allies, provide support and educational opportunities for LGBTQ and other students, and to educate the Saint Mary's campus on LGBTQ issues in order to create a more welcoming and accepting atmosphere for members of the LGBTQ community and their allies.

SAGA holds biweekly meetings in which current events concerning the LGBTQ community are discussed and club events are planned. SAGA meetings are a safe space for members to express any personal grievances and present ideas for creating an accepting campus climate. SAGA members are also encouraged to share stories of positive experiences and interactions with fellow Belles.

Most SAGA events are open to all Saint Mary's students, faculty, and staff. Our events are a fun way to encourage discussion and growth within the Saint Mary's community. It is our goal to co-host events with other Saint Mary's clubs looking to foster the same respect and friendship that SAGA promotes. Through working with fellow Belles, clubs, faculty and staff, SAGA hopes to create a campus climate in which all students feel safe and at home. Once a Belle, Always a Belle!
